Zen Remedy
Magic happened when the kids cleared out
Unobserved at last I Feng Shuied the house
Crystallized confusion diffused
Suddenly, with surprising desire
You cultivated bamboo on a tribal tract
Creating common ground
For the unbending blended family
Whispering a long awaited welcome
A bonding mantra
First sleeping
Then creeping
Last leaping
Marie Up A Tree
She lithely scaled the tall oak tree
Going out on a limb literally
Fiercely focused warrior still as petrified wood
Snapping “Tree Pose In A Tree” stiffly rooted I stood
Mother crow cawed from a leafy vantage
Mocking my ninja-clad praying mantis

Framing grace
against sky
mom’s ecstasy
Biographical Note for Katie Rose Convery:
I live with my husband in the western suburbs of
Philadelphia, am a mother, step-mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. A
longtime fan of poetry I still thrill to the first poem I learned in
first grade – Baby Chick by Aileen Fischer – “Peck, peck, peck on
the warm brown egg….” See Author Index Poetry for more of Katie's poems.
