Disappointment
unwelcome visitor
insists upon staying
settling in
even as I
signal for it to go
in subtle
then obvious ways
doesn’t matter
it won’t leave
until it is ready
to move on.
When You’re Having Chemo
Wear a turban
soft paisley
not that wig
shining with false radiance
on the outside
while inside it
secretly squeezes you
so hard
you have to smile
like a hostage.
Wear a turban
soft paisley
freeing you to face
a new world.
