Stories
The End of Superman
~ Dave Tick
It was any hot day
in July of 1958, and the burning sand scorched our little feet, which
made us wonder why our mothers didn’t situate the beach chairs closer to
the cooler hard sand near the water.
Having Babies is Great!
A Mother's Day Memory
~ Len Gottesman
Len, you’ll love to
hear what happened as I went to work this morning. As I sat on the El,
my stomach was so big that I rested my lunch on my belly! What a
wonderful table the baby made!
House Hunting
~ Kristin Flick Strid
Our one-car garage
was jam packed with big wheels, trikes, a stroller, bassinet, sleds and
assorted plastic Playskool products. We were stuffed like the feathers
in a down comforter, bulging wherever we all gathered
Fledglings
~ Jackie Kearins
I was in our family
room when I heard a crow cawing. I looked out the window and saw it
sitting on a branch of the Japanese maple tree in my back yard. I hate
these birds. They remind me of flying rats, with their beady eyes and
evil faces.
Bad Dream
~ Kate Lydon
Not even in my
wildest dreams did I ever imagine I'd someday marry the most
conscientious, responsible and organized man in the world, but I did.
The strange thing is that I didn't realize it until after we were
married.
The Law School of
the Boston University had been going on for several weeks. I had an
interview with the then acting Dean, and told him I wanted to get
credited with a year’s private reading of law, for I had read Blackstone
and Kent and some other law books, and had been registered as a student
in a law office in Louisville.
